「Palmimo DevKit」とは
「Palmimo DevKit」は、自律的に考え行動する汎用AIロボット「Palmimo」を、自分のコードでカスタマイズして動かせる卓上型の開発キットです。Palmimoは、目を合わせ、声に応え、表情としぐさで語りかける対話型コンパニオン--この「見る・聞く・考える・話す・動く」の自律ループを、ハードウェアの知識がなくてもPythonコードを数行書くだけで扱えるよう設計しています。

主な特長
- ロボティクスの知識がなくても、手を振る・歩く・首を向けるといった動きを、Pythonの命令ひとつ（例：robot.wave()）で呼び出せます
- LLMのtool callをそのままロボットの行動に接続するAIエージェント実装を同梱。頭脳となるAIモデルは差し替え可能です
- ソフトウェアをオープンソースとして順次公開。自社のデータやサービスとAPI／MCP／SDKでつなぎ、共に育てていける、オープンな共創型プラットフォームプロダクトです
- シミュレーション環境をはじめ、ロボット学習に向けた開発環境も順次整備。ソフトウェアエンジニアがフィジカルAIに踏み出す入り口になります

Palmimo DevKitは、事業会社やエンジニア、研究者が技術・アセット・事業課題を持ち寄り、新しいロボットのユースケースをオープンに開発できる「オープンな共創型プラットフォームプロダクト」を目指しています。その基盤として、原則としてオープンソースで提供していく方針です。

背景：なぜ今、フィジカルAI・Palmimo DevKitか
生成AI・AIエージェントに続き、AIが身体を持って現実世界で動く「フィジカルAI（Physical AI）」への動きが世界中で加速しています。ハードウェアやロボットに興味を持つソフトウェアエンジニアは今後さらに増え、それを後押しするオープンなロボットや開発ツールも増えていますが、その多くは海外発です。
Jizaiは、ロボットやハードウェアの知識がないソフトウェアエンジニアにも「自分のコードでロボットを動かせた」という感動を届けたいという思いから、設計から開発まで日本で手がけるAIロボットとしてPalmimo DevKitを開発してまいりました。フィジカルAIを推し進めるには、ソフトウェアとハードウェアの両方を扱える人材を増やすことが不可欠です。Palmimo DevKitは、フィジカルAIに向けた人材育成の入口であると同時に、その社会実装を実際に進めていくための道具でもあります。

これまでの歩みと今後の展開
Palmimoは、2025年1月の「CES 2025」での初公開以来、国連主催「AI for Good Global Summit 2025」やカンヌ国際映画祭「Cannes Next」などで発表を重ね、現在は日本科学未来館「Tokyo Mirai Park」の展示企画「未来の1日」（東京都主催）にて体験展示中です（2026年9月23日まで）。

Jizai Launches Early Access Sales of "Palmimo DevKit," a Tabletop Robot That Gives AI Agents a Body
Jizai Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Yuki Ishikawa; hereinafter "Jizai") announces that, starting September 3, 2026, it will begin early access sales of the "Palmimo DevKit," a tabletop development kit for its customizable general-purpose AI robot "Palmimo" (formerly Mi-Mo), to Early Builders and Early Partners, and will release it as open source in stages, starting with the software.



About the Palmimo DevKit
The Palmimo DevKit lets developers and businesses customize and run "Palmimo," a general-purpose AI robot that thinks and acts autonomously, with their own code. Palmimo is a conversational companion that makes eye contact, responds to your voice, and communicates through expressions and gestures. This "see, hear, think, speak, act" loop is accessible from a few lines of Python, with no hardware expertise required. Palmimo debuted at CES 2025, and the DevKit is currently on display at "A Day in the Future," a Tokyo Metropolitan Government exhibition at Tokyo Mirai Park inside Miraikan (through September 23, 2026).

Early Access Sales Overview
Initial units of the Palmimo DevKit are offered to Early Builders (developers and researchers) and Early Partners (companies and research institutions) at an early access price of JPY 598,000 (excl. tax; approx. USD 3,980 for reference), with no monthly fees and a 30-day initial warranty. An optional premium plan ("Palmimo Care Dev") and custom services are also available. Orders are accepted via the Palmimo DevKit official website.
An Open Co-Creation Platform
The Palmimo DevKit aims to be an open co-creation platform where companies, engineers, and researchers bring together their technologies, assets, and business challenges to develop new robot use cases, and Jizai intends to provide it as open source in principle. Alongside the start of early access sales, the software - the Python SDK, drivers, and AI agent implementation - is being released as open source in stages, with the scope expanding step by step to the simulation environment and the broader software stack. Early access customers will also receive hardware-related information in advance.

Background: Why Physical AI and the Palmimo DevKit, and Why Now
The world is moving toward "Physical AI" - AI with a body that acts in the real world - yet most open robots and tools originate outside Japan. Jizai developed the Palmimo DevKit as an AI robot designed and developed in Japan, to give software engineers with no robotics background the thrill of making a robot move with their own code. Advancing Physical AI requires people who can work with both software and hardware; the Palmimo DevKit is an entry point for developing that talent and a practical tool for real-world deployment.
